Giving in: How can we avoid repeating mistakes
As children of God our walk can get very difficult and sometimes life can seem hopeless, which can make it seem like God just isn’t working when in fact he is. When we fail to hold onto the word during trials we run the risk of giving up on God by falling into temptation and deliberately sinning as a means of temporary relief from the situation and in this time or just outright rebellion. When this happens we often don’t realise is that we’ve essentially called God a liar because it’s written in Isaiah 41:10 that you should be afraid, for He is with you. Don't be discouraged, for he is your God. He will strengthen you and help you but we’ve decided to satisfy ourself against His command because circumstances haven’t played on our terms, which isn't how life works. To avoid this we need to firstly find the word of God, a story if possible that relates to your situation and hold on to it in prayer anytime you feel discouraged. To amplify this, grab someone that cares about you and pray in agreement over the situation. People advocate talking but this often just leads to you focusing more on the issues and feeling like you’ve just gossiped yourself after. Instead take it to God and hold him to His word if you truly believe he’s there. He will comfort you and guide you out. If this has happened one can ask God forgiveness and repent by putting spiritual and physical strategies in place to avoid ending up in the same state that caused the rebellion. For example if the issue is joblessness maybe change the scope of job you want temporarily and change your approach from online to in person approaches whilst praying for God’s favour upon your life. Perhaps learn a new skill that can give financial freedom like copy writing.
